Boots on the Ground!
Carbon 40R — Suspension Milestone
Big step forward for the Carbon 40R chassis this week — the full suspension is now mounted and the frame is officially sitting on its wheels for the first time.
After months of measuring, mocking up, and refining pickup points, seeing the chassis on the ground is a huge milestone. The suspension geometry is based around C5 Corvette components, and the wheelbase has been matched precisely to the C5 layout, ensuring correct proportions, proper stance, and predictable handling characteristics from the start.
With the wheels on the ground, we can now:
Confirm ride height and stance
Validate suspension travel and clearances
Check steering geometry and scrub
Begin final chassis adjustments before full fabrication
This phase is where everything starts to feel real. The chassis is no longer just a structure on stands — it’s now a rolling platform that reflects the design goals from day one: balanced geometry, zero-scrub steering characteristics, and a modern suspension foundation wrapped in a classic GT40 form.
Next steps include finalizing mounting points, refining alignment, and continuing fabrication as the Carbon 40R moves closer to becoming a fully realized rolling chassis.
